Hida Area (Gifu)
Hida is the beautiful region surrounded by Hida mountains@(Northern Japanese
Alps) and Mt.Haku.
Hida is known for TAKUMI(skillful woodworkers) and you will see Machiya
(traditional merchant houses) and Minka(traditional farm houses) build
by them.
The famous Gassho-zukuri architecture is one of the Minka architecture
in this area which is declared a World Heritage site.
Once getting off the town, you will see a beautiful countryside landscape
with old farm houses dotted in vast rice fields.
You can enjoy hiking and cycling in rural villages, climbing one of the
Japan's highest mountains.
Our base is at Hida Furukawa, so we can offer unique activities and cultural
experiences.

Kanazawa & Noto (Ishikawa)
Experienced travelers like you of course recognize Kanazawa is one of the
highlights of Japan visit, but there are few traveler head for beyond Kanazawa.
It is true that travelling on Noto is not that easy since its north-south
stretched peninsula where there are few public transportation, but if you
really want to touch the real life of coastal rural village, Not is a place
to visit. Not only well known lacquer ware, Wajima nuri, but also beautiful
hundreds of rice terrace and traditional salt producing industry will wait
for you. |

Nagano
There are many enjoyable places to go in Nagano.
Togakushi:
The moutainous forested area is known as a pilgrimage site since ancient
times. The trails to the shrines are nice to walk and there are many Shukubos.(temple
lodging) to stay.
Yudanaka:
This small Onsen village is known for Japanese macaques who take Onsen bath.
Especially in winter, this area is covered by snow, and you will see "snow
monkeys" which covers the front cover of National Geographic magazine.
Matsumoto:
Matsumoto is the 2nd largest city in Nagano and was the castle town.
Matsumoto-Jo (castle) is Japan's oldest wooden castle and there are many
pretty Mingei (fork art) shops around the city. |
